Apply For This Role

About KitchenSync

KitchenSync is building the operating system for independent restaurants. We combine software, automation, and hands-on operational support to make the back office of a restaurant run better, from accounting and payroll to purchasing, people, and performance.

We are a small, ambitious team working closely with restaurant operators. The work is practical, fast-moving, and high-accountability. We care about building things that actually work, not just things that sound good.

The Role

The Chief of Staff is an extension of the CEO and a force multiplier for the company. You will bring structure to the highest-priority work, drive cross-functional execution, and make sure important decisions turn into action.

This is not a strategy role from the sidelines. You will operate inside the business: preparing decisions, running key initiatives, following through across teams, and stepping into whatever is most important at the time.

You will have broad visibility into the company and real ownership. The right person is highly organized without being bureaucratic, commercially sharp, comfortable with ambiguity, and willing to get into the details.

What You'll Do

  • Own follow-through on the CEO's and leadership team's highest-priority initiatives.
  • Turn loose ideas and conversations into clear plans, owners, deadlines, and decisions.
  • Prepare materials and analysis for company, client, hiring, fundraising, and operating decisions.
  • Run key meetings and operating rhythms, then make sure commitments do not disappear afterward.
  • Coordinate work across product, engineering, operations, finance, sales, and client service.
  • Identify where work is stuck, understand why, and drive it to resolution.
  • Take on high-leverage special projects from start to finish.
  • Help the CEO protect time and attention by filtering noise, escalating what matters, and closing loops.
  • Build lightweight systems that make the company more accountable and easier to run.
  • Represent KitchenSync professionally with clients, partners, candidates, and investors.

What We're Looking For

  • 5+ years in a demanding operating environment, such as a startup, consulting, investing, operations, or a high-growth company.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication.
  • Strong judgment and the confidence to make progress with incomplete information.
  • A track record of owning complex work across multiple people and functions.
  • High attention to detail, paired with a practical sense of what actually matters.
  • Comfort working directly with a founder and receiving candid, fast feedback.
  • The ability to move between strategic thinking and hands-on execution in the same day.
  • Genuine interest in restaurants, hospitality, small business, or operational software.
  • Based in Los Angeles and able to work in person regularly from Beverly Grove / West Hollywood.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in restaurants, hospitality, vertical SaaS, fintech, accounting, payroll, or operations-heavy businesses.
  • Experience working with founders, executive teams, boards, or investors.
  • Financial fluency and comfort building models, analyzing performance, and pressure-testing assumptions.
  • Experience implementing systems and processes in a company that is scaling quickly.

How We Work

We are direct, thoughtful, and action-oriented. We expect people to say what they think, support it with evidence, and take responsibility for outcomes. Titles matter less than ownership. We use technology aggressively, but we do not confuse activity with progress.

This role will be trusted with sensitive information and consequential work. Discretion, reliability, and sound judgment are essential.

What Success Looks Like

Within your first six months:

  • The company's most important priorities have clearer ownership and move faster.
  • Leadership meetings produce decisions and consistent follow-through.
  • The CEO spends less time chasing information, coordinating work, and closing routine loops.
  • Cross-functional initiatives have better structure, visibility, and accountability.
  • You have become a trusted operator who can take an ambiguous, important problem and own it end to end.

Why This Role

You will work directly with the CEO at a company tackling a large, difficult, and meaningful problem. You will see every part of the business, have real influence over how it grows, and build the operating muscle behind a company that aims to make independent restaurants more successful.
